What is ThirdGen?
ThirdGen is a collection of some of the things that I'm interested in. I was thinking to myself one day, "I've got an opinion. I've got stuff to say. Where better to put these things than on the internet?" Here's the manifestation of the idea I had to capture the thoughts of my college days before they are lost forever in the forgetfullness that comes with age.
Another reason for ThirdGen is a practical one. I study computers in school, and it is beneficial to my learning to have a website to practice on because it allows me to practice the concepts of computer science in a real life setting. I also figure that maybe there's someone out there that could use some of the code that I've written to help them get something done whether it's important or not.
There's no one purpose of this website. It's just a collection of random thoughts and interests of a college kid.

Announcement November 29th, 2010, 2:31 PM:
The website has enough functionality that everything looks and runs like it's supposed to. The blog comment section was really the only thing that needed some work. On the music page, I've modified the top 20 list so that each song is now a hyperlink to a location where you can listen to it. It's not a link to a download page, but most of them are links to youtube, and let's be real people, everyone knows about youtube downloader these days. If you don't, google it. If my grandmother can figure out how to use it, you can.
All the links to files on the Java page are active. If you hadn't guessed already, you do need a copy of Java installed on your machine to be able to open the executable jar files. Currently the programs involving I/O file streams (I think that's only Virtual Alarm Alert) only work on Windows based machines, but I will put up a revised executable jar file. I probably won't post the source code for the Mac/Linux version simply because there's only once difference between the Windows and Mac/Linux versions. If you wish to use the source code on a Mac/Linux machine, all you have to do is select all the text in each of the classes and change the double back slashes ("\\") to forward slashes ("/") using "Find and Replace." Also, you are going to need to change the JRE Compliance to JRE 1.5 instead of JRE 1.6.

Mike Wallace has struck again!
I've updated the quotes page with two new brain cramps courtesy of the one and only Mike Wallace, and I've been trying to teach myself C#, so I plan on making a page similar to the Java one with the source code from a couple of my projects that I've been working on. Some of them are completed, and some of them are still a work in progress. Look for that page to be up within the next couple of weeks.

Announcement April 5, 2011, 12:43 PM:
If you have been directed to this page to download the AXO Chi Chapter record keeping tool then click HERE. Follow the directions to download and install the program. This download DOES NOT come with the member list pre-loaded for obvious reasons, so in order to get that list, you must have someone export it and then send it to you for import.
This program works on Mac OS, Linux systems, and Windows systems, however, you must have Java installed for it to work, which you probably already have installed. If you DO NOT have Java, it can be downloaded HERE.
